Nashville, TN- FGCU (6-4, 1-2 ASUN) got back on track beating Lipscomb University (9-9, 4-3 ASUN) 79-69, Friday night, from Allen Arena.
Stats:
FGCU shot 44.3% (27/61) from the field, 34.4% (11/32) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded 39-38 by Lipscomb. The Eagles dished out 12 assists, had 5 steals, and 7 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 11 Lipscomb turnovers and had 10 team turnovers of their own.
Overview:
This was a huge win for FGGU and there is plenty to build off after this game. Cyrus Largie had a career high 22 pts, Caleb Catto contributed 14 pts, and Dakota Rivers had 11 pts. Zach Anderson had his best game of the season, just missing a double double, finishing with 8 pts, 12 rebounds.
The Eagles played strong 2nd half defense only allowing 33 pts, while scoring 47 pts as a team. The three ball was huge for FGCU. Dakota Rivers, Zach Anderson, and Justus Rainwater each had 2 blocks, and the Eagles played strong defense tonight. As the visiting team this was a big win, because now the Eagles will look for the regular season sweep vs Lipscomb tomorrow night.
Romaeo Ferguson led Lipscomb with 22 pts and had a strong game for the Bisons. Ahsan Asadullah was “held” to 14 pts, 9 rebounds, and that was a huge deal after the game he had vs FGCU in last year’s ASUN Quarterfinals game.
