Miami, FL- FGCU (6-2) took game one of two back to back games, beating FIU (3-2), 86-68, Sunday afternoon.


FGCU shot 56.4% (31/55) from the field, 44% (11/25) from beyond the arc, and were outrebounded 37-31 by the Golden Panthers. FGCU dished out 16 assists, had 5 steals, and 6 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 12 FIU turnovers and had 13 team turnovers of their own.


Four Eagles finished in double figures in scoring Sunday vs FIU and included Kierstan Bell (21 pts, 11 reb), Tyra Cox (16 pts), Aaliyah Stanley (14 pts), TK Morehouse (13 pts), and Andrea Cecil (13 pts). The Golden Panthers were led by Emerald Ekpieta, who finished with 17 pts, 13 reb.

The Eagles largest lead in the game was 22 pts. Kierstan Bell finished with another double double and that gave her four in five games. Tyra Cox’s 16 pts were a career high for her.
