ASUN SEMIFINALS: #1 FGCU vs #5 UNF RECAP

Fort Myers,FL- #1 FGCU (30-3) is headed to the ASUN conference Championship game, Sunday afternoon vs #3 seed Liberty, after beating #5 seed UNF (16-15) Wednesday night, 73-57.

Overview:

FGCU dominated this game and took over and inflicted their will on UNF from the tip off. The Eagles took a 38-22 lead into the half and never looked back. Keri Jewett-Giles (22 points) and Nasrin Ulel (20 points) were the top scorers in the game for the Eagles and UNF was led by Jazz Bond (20 points) and Janesha Green (19 points). This was a game where the Eagles stretched their lead to 30 at one point in the game. UNF and FGCU both scored 35 points in the 2nd half of the game but the Eagles were able to get the job done and will face #3 Liberty for the ASUN Championship Sunday afternoon.

Stats:

FGCU shot 42% from the field (27/64), 33% from beyond the arc (11/33)and outrebounded UNF 40-30. The Eagles dished out 14 assists and defensively had 8 steals and 4 blocks in the game. FGCU forced 15 UNF team turnovers and had 14 team turnovers of their own.

Janesha Green: 19 pts, 6 rebounds

#1 FGCU remains at home to face #3 Liberty (20-11) who beat #2 UNA on the road, 90-87 in overtime.
