FGCU bounced back after losing the road finale of the Bethune Cookman series to stun #22 Pepperdine. This was FGCU’s 22nd win over a ranked opponent. Pepperdine took a 4-1 lead in the top of the 4th, and when it looked like the game could be getting away from the Eagles, FGCU responded in the bottom of the inning, courtesy of Brian Ellis, Alex Brait, and Richie Garcia driving in runs to tie the game up. After a scoreless 5th, Kyle Machado hit his 1st career collegiate home run putting the Eagles out in front 5-4. Brandon Dorsey added on another RBI in the 7th driving in Cameron Krzeminski putting the Eagles out in front 6-4. Pepperdine scored a run on a wild pitch in the top of the 8th, but Gruszecki got the job done finishing out that inning, the top of the 9th, and getting his 2nd save of the season for the Eagles.
