Fort Myers, FL- FGCU (10-21, 7-9) let another game get away from them once again, this time losing to UNA (13-16, 8-8) in overtime 78-73.
Overview:
FGCU blew an 8 point lead in the 2nd half which led to an overtime period in which they were outscored 15-10 by UNA. With Lipscomb upsetting Liberty at home, combined with Stetson’s loss at home to Jacksonville, the Eagles lost the opportunity to play the Hatters who have fell apart of lately losing their past 4 games.
UNA had all five starters finish in double figures while the Eagles had four players in double figures. The Lions were led by Jamari Blackmon sho scored 22 points and led all scorers in the game. FGCU was led by Jalen Warren who finished with 19 points and Malik Hardy (16 points) who had a massive game with Cyrus Largie out sick. Zach Scott (15 points) hit some huge 3’s in the game and played 38 minutes compared to the previous game where he played only 18 minutes.
This season has been full of so many letdowns and it’s only fitting for FGCU to drop their ASUN conference finale the way they dropped it to UNA Saturday afternoon.
