Boca Raton, FL- FGCU (0-4) dropped another close game Tuesday night to FAU (4-0) 6-4 from FAU Baseball Stadium.
Overview:
FGCU blew another late inning late Tuesday night and. Nikolas Bitner started the started for the Eagles and went 3 innings allowing 4 hits, 3 runs (2 ER), and struck out 2 while walking 2 in 67 pitches. Tyler Shuck took the loss (0-2) and allowed 2 earned runs while facing 4 batters in 0.2 of an inning. Mike Etenza (1-0) got the win pitching 2.1 innings of relief allowing no runs, 1 hit, striking out 4 and walking 1. Mitchell Hartigan shut the door allowing 2 hits but getting the save for the Owls.
FGCU did all of their scoring in the 3rd inning of the game tonight scoring 4 runs. Alex Brait rallied the Eagles with an RBI single that scored Brian Ellis and Richie Garcia unloaded the bases with a 3-RBI double giving the Eagles a 4-1 lead. FAU took the lead in the 6th inning of the game on a 2 out, 2 RBI single by Bobby Morgensen. Now with the losses out of the way, it’s time for the Eagles to earn Coach Dave Tollett’s 600th win at Swanson Stadium this weekend.
