FGCU/TULANE RECAP

New Orleans, LA- FGCU (0-3) will have to wait another road trip for an opportunity to earn Coach Tollett’s 600th win after getting swept by American conference member Tulane (3-0) this weekend.

GAME 1: Tulane 4 FGCU 3

The Eagles had a 3 run lead which they squandered and the Green Wave did all of their damage in innings 5 and 6. Mason Studstill lasted 4 1/3 innings allowing 2 ER and struck out 8 Tulane batters while walking 4 batters. Tyler Shuck (0-1) took the loss for FGCU allowing 1 ER in a 3 2/3 innings in relief of Studstill. FGCU got RBI’s from Brandon Dorsey (1) and Marc Coffers (1) in the game. All of the runs for the Eagles were in the 4th inning.

Game 2: Tulane 8 FGCU 4

Hunter McGary (0-1) lasted 4 1/3 innings allowing 10 hits, 4 ER, and struck out 1 batter while walking 1. The Eagles got RBI’s from Brian Ellis (1), and a long HR from Brandon Dorsey (1), RBI (2nd overall this season) in the game. Parker Haskin led Tulane with 3 RBI’s and David Bedgood hit a 2 run HR in the game for the Green Wave. The other runs for the Eagles were scored on an error and a fielder’s choice.

Game 3: Tulane 6 FGCU 1 (8 innings)

Ronaldo Gallo (0-1) lasted 3 1/3 innings allowing 4 ER, 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The Eagle’s lone RBI came from Ritchie Garcia (1). Tulane was led by Parker Haskin who had 3 RBI’s in the game and Ethan Groff who hit a 3 run homer in the game. The game was ended early due to FGCU’s travel plans. It was a frustrating loss for the Eagles and they look to get Coach Tollett’s 600th win Tuesday night vs FAU.

What’s Next:

FGCU travels to Conference USA member FAU (3-0) Tuesday night (2/18) from FAU Baseball Stadium at 6:30 PM. FAU (3-0) swept Delaware this past weekend at home.
