Nashville, TN- FGCU (8-19, 5-7) heads to Allen Arena looking for a huge win against Lipscomb University (11-14, 6-6) Saturday afternoon.
Overview:
Lipscomb comes into this game winners of three games in a row defeating UNA, KSU, and NJIT respectfully. First year Head Coach Lennie Acuff has the team at .500 in ASUN conference play and this team is playing much more confident compared to the team that lost to FGCU 68-61 on 1/4 at Alico Arena.
Ahsan Asadullah is continuing his tear in ASUN conference play and closing in on ASUN Player of the Year with the year he is having. The Eagles had no answer for him in the first game and he continues to be a matchup issue for every team in the league. Freshman guard KJ Johnson had an off game vs FGCU in the first meeting but seems to have right the ship with his play the last few games.
The matchup that stands out the most for us will be Asadullah vs Rainwater. Brian Thomas is starting to look healthier and since Lipscomb deploys 4 Guards due to Jake Wolfe’s season ending injury you could see a combination of Rainwater/Thomas on the big man depending on foul trouble and Brian’s health.
Stats:
Lipscomb averages 71.0 points per game, shoot 44% from the field, shoot 33.6% from beyond the arc. The Bisons average 35.4 team rebounds per game. Lipscomb dishes out 13.2 assists per game, and on the defensive end of the ball average 5.3 steals and 2.5 blocks per game. The Bisons average 13.2 team turnovers per game.
