SU/FGCU PREVIEW

Fort Myers, FL- FGCU (7-17, 4-5) welcomes Stetson University (12-12, 6-3) to Alico Arena Thursday night at 7 PM.

Overview:

Stetson is the surprise team of the ASUN this season. Coach Donnie Jones has this team completely buying in to his approach and they are led by freshman at guard and at forward. The Hatters were picked to finish last in both the ASUN preseason coaches and media polls.

In the first matchup on 1/11, FGCU beat Stetson 66-62 in overtime. Caleb Catto hit a 3 pointer to tie the game and force overtime and Jalen Warren took over in the overtime period to perserve the win for the Eagles. Freshman Guard Rob Perry did it all for the Hatters in the game scoring 27 points and it was really impressive to see him live and he will be a true issue to guard for years to come. Little did we know after this matchup that Stetson would defeat Liberty at home and be one game out of 1st place.

Stetson averages 63.2 points per game. The Hatters shoot 44% from the field, and 33% from beyond the arc. Stetson dishes out 9.8 assists per game and on the defensive end of the ball average 6.3 steals per game and 2.6 blocks per game. The Hatters average 13.9 team turnovers per game.
