Lynchburg, VA- #24 FGCU (21-2, 8-0) was able to withstand another close game vs Liberty University (11-10, 4-4) by a score of 74-65 Saturday afternoon at the Vines Center.

This game was completely back and forth and at one point Liberty had a 7 point lead. Another huge 2nd half for FGCU was the difference in this game as the Eagles scored 41 2nd point points. Offensive rebounds continue to be an issue as the Eagles only grabbed 6 offensive rebounds in the game. The Eagles finished with 4 starters in double figures in scoring including Kerstie Phills (19 pts), Nasrin Ulel (18 pts), Keri Jewett-Giles (12 pts), and Ashli O’Neal (12 pts).


FGCU shot 41.8% from the field (23/55), 36.8% from beyond the arc (14/38) and were outrebounded 35-30 by the Flames. The Eagles dished out 16 assists and on the defensive side of the ball had 9 steals and 4 blocks. FGCU had 13 team turnovers and forced 20 Liberty team turnovers in the game.
