FGCU/UNA RECAP

Florence, AL- FGCU (18-2, 5-0) remains the class of the ASUN and the last undefeated team left in conference play with a 74-63 win on the road Saturday afternoon vs UNA (13-4, 4-1).

Overview:

This was a very close game on the road for FGCU, a true character builder. The Eagles went back and forth with UNA and it was a true battle from the tip off. In the 4th quarter, the Eagles really turned it on and put some space between them and UNA.

The game was tied at the half and it was truly back and forth with both teams matching each others runs offensively. Three Eagles finished in double figures in scoring for FGCU (Jewett-Giles, Wingate, and Ulel), while UNA had 4 players finish in double figures in scoring (I. Wallen, Noah, Eubank, and Colson). This was a game where a stout UNA defense challenged FGCU by not allowing the Eagles to get hot from beyond the arc. FGCU was able to get it done inside, scoring in the paint and it was another huge road win for the team.

Stats:

FGCU shot 39% from the field (29/73), 22% from beyond the arc (4/18), and outrebounded UNA 39-32. The Eagles dished out 11 assists and had 13 steals and 1 block on the defensive side of the ball. FGCU forced 23 Lions team turnovers and only had 8 team turnovers of their own.

Keri Jewett-Giles: 25 pts

Nasrin Ulel: 11 pts

Standout Players (UNA):
