KSU/FGCU RECAP

Fort Myers, FL- FGCU (6-14, 3-2) moved into 3rd place in the ASUN conference standings and over .500 in conference play with a 73-51 win over Kennesaw State (1-16, 0-4) Thursday night at Alico Arena.

Overview:

It was a super sloppy few minutes to start the game for both teams but the Eagles were able to put it together en route to a 34-7 lead at the half. Plenty of players got minutes for the Eagles in a game that may have looked closer than it truly ever was.

Stats:

FGCU shot 45% from the field (29/64), 25% from beyond the arc (5/20), and outrebounded KSU 53-39. The Eagles forced 14 Owls turnovers and had 19 team turnovers of their own. 16 Eagles played in the game tonight so it was great seeing Coach Fly empty his bench.

The Eagles dished out 15 assists, 5 steals, and had 10 blocks on the defensive side of the ball. Dakota Rivers had 5 of those blocks for the Eagles. FGCU held KSU to 4% from the field (1/25) in the first half and according to “College Hoop Source” (@ncaahoopssource) this was the 2nd worst shooting percentage ever (NIU 3.2% in 2012-2013 during a game).

Standout Players (KSU):

Jamie Lewis: 20 pts

Tyler Hooker: 13 pts

Standout Players (FGCU):

Caleb Catto: 11 pts

Zach Scott: 10 pts

Jalen Warren: 9 pts, 11 rebounds, 5 assists

Cyrus Largie 9 pts
