Jacksonville, FL- #25 FGCU (17-2, 4-0) won their 6th game in a row Monday night at UNF Arena vs UNF (9-8, 2-2) 72-50. The Eagles starters provided balanced scoring with four starters finishing in double figures.
Overview:
It was a huge win for the Eagles over a UNF team that had an RPI of 77 since they had played multiple ranked teams and UNF schedules a very tough non conference schedule. It was a close game until the end of the 1st half when FGCU orchestrated an 11-2 run to create some separation and get the Eagles lead to 18. FGCU had a huge 3rd quarter to blow the game open 65-32 and the 4th quarter was a chance for some of the reserves to play and rest the starters.
Stats:
FGCU shot 43% from the field (30/69), 32% from beyond the arc (9/28), and were outrebounded by the Ospreys 45-36. The Eagles dishes out 16 assists, and on the defensive side of the ball had 11 steals and 1 block. FGCU forced 19 UNF team turnovers and only had 5 team turnovers of their own.
