FGCU/UNF RECAP

Jacksonville, FL- FGCU (4-14, 1-2) dropped another tough game on the road to UNF (10-8, 3-0) Thursday night from UNF Arena 89-74.

Overview:

UNF was lights out from beyond the arc shooting 52% and hitting 16 3’s and that was the difference between the two teams in this game. FGCU could not keep up with UNF from beyond the arc and only shot 43% making only 6 3’s. FGCU had four players finish in double figures including Caleb Catto (16 pts, tied career high), Zach Scott (11 points), Justus Rainwater (11 points), and Jalen Warren (10 points). With UNF being smaller inside the Eagles were able to execute some highlight dunks from Rainwater, Rivers, and Largie in a game that got away from them. Defending the Ospreys was a major issue as UNF had their way with FGCU in every facet of this game. The Eagles were unable to defend the 3, and seemed puzzled every time a pick and roll was called by Coach Driscoll. The Eagles never led in this game.

Stats:

FGCU shot 47% from the field (29/62), 43% from the 3 point line (6/14), and were outrebounded 34-33 by UNF. The Eagles dished out 16 assists, and defensively had 5 steals, 3 blocks, and forced 10 UNF turnovers. FGCU had 12 team turnovers in the game.

What’s Next: FGCU continues their first ASUN road trip of the season and head to Edmunds Arena to face Stetson University (7-10, 1-1) at 4 PM Saturday afternoon in Deland.
