Houston,TX- FGCU (9-1) overcame shooting 36% (22/60) from the field and 23% (8/35) from the 3 point line to defeat the University of Houston (4-5) 57-45 Wednesday afternoon from the Fertitta Center.

FGCU played solid defense as they had 8 steals, 4 blocks, and forced 20 Cougar turnovers. Davion Wingate had 3 blocks for the Eagles and Tytionia Adderly contributed with 2 steals on the defensive side of the ball. Ashli O’Neal is closing on in 1,000 points as she currently has 940 points and once she reaches 1,000, will be the 4th Eagle on the team to accumulate 1,000 points in her career.
In a game that could have been a let down for FGCU, due to a possible “hangover” effect from winning the Cancun Challenge this past weekend, FGCU found a way to win.
